Painting minis is something I've wanted to try, especially 3d printing and painting my own, but I don't have the required fine motor control x.x

You can practice with cheap toys like the green soldiers and painting with craft acrylic paint (like applebarrel or something like that, in México we have Politec acrylics)
Try starting the drybrush technique and the slapchop method.
